I put it off for a long time… but recently joined this past weekend. While I haven’t cared too much about my followers and such (so far), I’ve found it’s just a really great place to compile everything! I follow many blogs, and save bookmarks upon bookmarks worth of notable art, fashions, and DIY ideas… but bookmarks get so unorganized. Besides, I’d much rather look at a compilation of images than lines of words. I’m now HOOKED on Pinterest, and think that’s it’s not only nice for connecting with others with the same tastes, but is just great as a giant idea book. It’s safe to say, I am indeed obsessed.
I’ve been thinking about writing a post about my obsession. The thing I love the most of it is that its an entire platform based on surprise, delight, inspiration and learning – all the thing that, for me, make the Internet such a delicious thing. Strip away the nature of the content – which you may not be super into – and you end up with a huge community of people who are happily collecting things they find inherently great.
I LOVE IT! Its like I have woken up the sleeping creative freak in me! I cant stop searching for vivid images that display my varied interests, and even worse, i fancy doing the same in my room! However, I think that Pinterest is more of a girl thing… it could use some broadening of common topics/interests, and i genuinely hope it continues to be popular and not disappear like a fad!
As an art director I’m always looking for cool references and inspiration. Before Pinterest, my external hard drive was full of cool logos, film references and a whole host of stuff i found interesting.
My pinterest account started as a way for me to catalogue all the things i find awe inspiring. That was until i jumped from 98 followers to 11 000 in the space of a week. Now I’m on 86769 followers. Everyday i still pin things i find exciting, but it’s also exciting to check out how many new followers I’ve got.
It’s amazing how many cool things you can find just on Pinterest.
It is not obsession. It is being prepared for the present of socialmedia because future happens suddenly and becomes now in just a second. Pinterest is carpe diem socialmedia.

It's only accurate up to a point. As @Trev and @Warren noted, the show is first about entertainment and second about depicting the industry.
As an entertainment source, I like it.
It's more realistic than Mad Men. I'm pretty sure a legitimately 'accurate' portrayal of our industry would be so boring, or confusing that no one would watch the show.
Seems like they're trying to make it more about relationships and ideas.

TOTALLY! And I’m not getting married or have a house to decorate. I enjoy the plethora of pretty things and Leilah’s Smoking Children board lol.

It’s social media with minimal words. I like it for that alone.
